Josef Dreyer is a finalist for the Raka Biography Shiraz 2020.
Josef grew up on the family farm with his three siblings and parents where we farmed soft citrus and livestock. In 1999, when Josef was 15, he helped to establish the first vineyards on the farm and had to take his turn watering them. He was keenly interested and whole-heartedly involved in the planning of the cellar, the planting of the grapes and the first five harvests, regularly relieving the night staff over weekends, and commuting daily between the school and farm at harvest time so that he could be in on the action.
He made sure that he was there when the first wines of Raka were bottled in 2002. He studied viticulture and winemaking at Elsenburg College, obtaining his B.Agric degree in 2006. In 2007 he took over the winemaking responsibilities at Raka and has ever since been producing the wines from Raka that you love and enjoy.
We as a family and the rest of the Raka team are extremely happy about this achievement and could not be prouder.
It is the skills of Josef’s winemaking that produce wines that are a testimony to our unique terroir in the Klein River valley and also the efficiency of the Raka team from planting, pruning harvest….
We will be celebrating by drinking Raka Spliced, a Shiraz blend! If you would like to join us in celebration, we are offering a 10% discount on the Spliced. Buy Raka wine online HERE.
