Happiness comes in a bottle from Raka

The Harvest is always a wonderful time to be out in the winelands and with COVID having restricted our movement so much, it was a treat to be out in the Stanford area visiting Raka, where they were bringing in their Sauvignon Blanc.

Michelangelo Awards a great evening at Cape Sun

I have not attended the Michelangelo Awards dinner for many years, so I was super impressed by the organisation, food and wine. Considering that there are about 450 people who attend the event in the massive ballroom, it is no mean feat to present each diner with a tasty and delicious plate of food in good time.

Our Name and Wines

Piet Dreyer was a fisherman all his life. As a child, when he was about 16 years old, his father was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash and he helped his mother to support the family by catching fish over weekends and after school on a friend’s fishing boat.

Family Involvement

The Dreyer Family bought the farm, Remhoogte south east of Hermanus in the Akkedisberg area in 1982. Piet Dreyer was doing commercial fishing at the time.

Raka Cellar and Vineyards

The farm is situated in a narrow valley in the Kleinriver Mountains, southernmost mountain range in Africa. The vineyards are planted on either side of the Klein River that flows through the valley on its way to the Atlantic Ocean in Walkerbay.
