Jorika Visser

Raised on the family farm in Stanford in the Overberg, Jorika Visser née Visser has been part of Raka Wines since its inception in 2002. From helping her mother plant the very first vineyards at the age of nine to helping out in the tasting room as a teenager, Jorika has grown up with wine in her blood. By the time she officially joined Raka in 2007, she was already deeply rooted in every aspect of the business.

As marketing manager, Jorika wears many hats. Her role spans sales, marketing, exports, distribution, and running the tasting room – with the occasional forklift duty or stint on the bottling line. She thrives on the variety and values the unique support system that comes with working alongside her parents and three brothers.

For Jorika, the best part of her work is marketing a product she is genuinely proud of – wines crafted by her own family. She especially enjoys blending creativity and strategy to keep the Raka name relevant in a competitive market. While the wine industry faces challenges such as price-driven competition, Jorika believes in staying true to Raka’s values: producing wines that reflect both passion and place.

Away from the cellar, Jorika embraces farm life with her husband and two daughters. Whether it’s family braais in the veld, tending to her husband’s bees, or exploring the surrounding mountains, she finds balance in the rhythm of nature and the joy of raising the next generation on the land that shaped her.
