The Harvest is always a wonderful time to be out in the winelands and with COVID having restricted our movement so much, it was a treat to be out in the Stanford area visiting Raka, where they were bringing in their Sauvignon Blanc. Clearly Sauvignon Blanc is flavour of the month as it has also been selected by winemaker Josef Dreyer, to be fermented in their new concrete tanks - just arrived from Italy.
I have not attended the Michelangelo Awards dinner for many years, so I was super impressed by the organisation, food and wine. Considering that there are about 450 people who attend the event in the massive ballroom, it is no mean feat to present each diner with a tasty and delicious plate of food in good time. Hats off to the Tsogo Sun team at the Cape Sun.
When you are in the Stanford region please do visit us!
We offer tastings and have a set selection of 6 wines on tasting for R30 per person. The full range of 14 Raka wines may be tasted at R110 per person.
We do not have a restaurant, but we have a small shop that sells local cheese, olives and relish that you can make your own selection to enjoy while tasting.
